Alpine is the first car audio company to
introduce a new touch panel display that actually gives you
feedback when you touch the screen. With our exclusive PulseTouch™
technology, the IVA-D310 gives pulses, vibrations, and sounds when
touched.
The IVA-D310' s PulseTouch is easier to use. It uses different
vibrations and pressures that simulate what it feels like when you
push a real button. You get a different feel when tapping a
button, holding down a button, moving a slider or touching where
no screen command exists. In addition, the menu locations and
button positions for different components are always in the same
place. This smart layout of buttons, together with their tactile
response, ensures that users can quickly and easily find controls
without even looking at the screen. The IVA-D300 can command a
wide range of Touch Control Ready components, for easy control of
an entire system.
How Does it Work
Alpine's PulseTouch technology utilizes two piezoelectric elements
(PZT) created from an Oxide compound made up of Lead, Zirconium,
and Titanium.
The elements are sandwiched between two electrodes and when
voltage is applied to the electrodes; the elements expand
according to the direction of the voltage. By using Positive and
Negative voltage, the panel expands or contracts to create
vibrations when touched. The IVA-D300 is capable of creating eight
distinct patterns to give unique feedback. The screen is
intelligent enough to simulate different styles of button pushes
to give a unique feel when holding down a button, tapping a
button, moving a slider or pushing in an area where no screen
command exists.

The IVA-D310 was built with system expansion in mind and can
control a wide variety of components that are Touch Control Ready.
With total fingertip control for 5.1 processors, TV tuner, DVD
changers, DVD players, subwoofer amplifiers, XM tuners, rear seat
monitors, and a new 5.1 Digital Theater Amplifier, it is easy to
control a complete system. All source screens have
bright vivid controls so the entire system can be controlled from
one easy interface.
MediaXpander™ - Alpine
realizes that there is no “onefix” solution for all mobile
sound quality problems. That's why we engineered a superior
approach called MediaXpander that provides push-button enhancement
to sound quality using a 500 Mhz processor and DSP technology and
has different settings for each media. Here's how it works:
MP3/XM radio: Both formats compress audio across
the entire bandwidth, which results in some of the “life”
disappearing from music. MediaXpander restores the harmonic
structure across the full bandwidth, making it sound “real”
again.
CD/DVD music: Bass is often masked by road noise.
MediaXpander restores the “live” feeling by correcting
harmonic detail in the Bass region.
FM/DVD movies: MediaXpander enhances the clarity in vocal
range.
Media Playback Capability
The IVA-D300 provides flexibility playing back
multiple types of media formats. The DVD transport
plays DVD Video/DVD-R/DVD-RW/CD/CD-R/CD-RW and CDs encoded with
MP3 and WMA files. Also, by adding a separate XM
receiver module, the IVA-D300 can receive XM Satellite
Radio. Alpine's MediaXpander feature helps to enhance
the sound quality from all of these sources using a 500MHz
processor and DSP technology.
